The London Palaeography Summer School 2010

For those who attended the Summer School in 2010, we should be grateful if you would provide feedback using this questionnaire ( 72kb) which can be returned by email, post or fax.


In 2010, the Summer School will run a series of intensive courses throughout 21-25 June 2010. Courses will range from a half to two-days duration.

COURSES:

Monday 21 June

Tuesday 22 June

A display of medieval writing materials, presented by Alan Cole, Chair of the Museum of Writing, will be exhibited during the lunch breaks on Tuesday 22 June and Thursday 24 June, and is open to all participants of the Summer School.  

Wednesday 23 June

Thursday 24 June

Friday 25 June

The London Rare Books School is also offering week-long courses in the following:

FEES: 

Course fees cover the provision of documentary material (with the exception of * ), plus tea, coffee and sandwich lunches.

DAILY RATES FOR INDIVIDUAL COURSES:

There is no reduced or concessionary rate available for individual daily bookings.

£50 for half-day courses
£75 for full-day courses, with the exception of*
£135
for the Books of Hours 2-day course (those wishing to take day one only will be charged the standard daily rate)
(*£80 for Pigments and painting (includes an additional £5 to cover the cost of materials))

REDUCED RATES FOR COMBINATIONS:

£200* for 3 full days
£265* for 4 full days
£330* for 5 full days
(*if the Pigments and painting course is included, an additional £5 is due.)

VENUE:

Classes will take place in seminar rooms located in Senate House, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HU. Click here for a map.

ACCOMMODATION:

The School of Advanced Study does not have its own halls of residence.  Summer School participants will need to make their own arrangements for accommodation where necessary.  Please have a look at the various suggestions on our accommodation page.  It may be possible to to find a room in one of the University of London's intercollegiate halls of residence.  In all cases you will need to arrange accommodation directly.

CANCELLATION OF COURSES AND ALLOCATION OF PLACES:

Students will be notified by 9 June 2010 if there are insufficient numbers for a course to run. In this event, students will be given a place on another course.

Places will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. If any courses are oversubscribed, waiting lists will be set up to cover the eventuality of any cancellation from registered students.
