The Institute of English Studies of the University of London and the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages have great pleasure in inviting you to attend an International Conference "Language, Culture and Society" in London, 9-10 July 2011.

The Conference will take place in the Senate House of the University of London. The social programme is arranged by the International Department of the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages.

The Organising Committee welcomes presentations for the following research fields:

  • English and Russian Studies:
    Lexicography
    English Studies
    Russian Studies
  • Theoretical Linguistics
  • Sociolinguistics
  • English and Russian Literature
  • Language Teaching
  • Medieval Studies
  • The History of the Book: Past and Present
  • Society Studies

Abstracts of the papers to be presented will be printed in the conference booklet. A collection of papers will be published as Proceedings of the International Conference "Language Culture and Society" in a special edition of the Journal of Philology after the conference.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN IN SPRING 2012.

Accommodation in a hostel can be arranged by the International Department of the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages - the price for the room in a hostel is around £30-35 per day. Otherwise please see this link for accommodation options in the Senate House area.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCESS

Anyone wishing to propose a paper is invited to write to: rector@gaudeamus.ru and/or jane.roberts@sas.ac.uk .

Papers given as Plenary Session presentations should be no more than 20 minutes in length; 15 minutes for Working Groups. Sessions are planned for one hour and 15 minutes in length so as to leave time for questions and discussion. Working Groups will normally occupy one hour. All sessions will be held in rooms fully equipped with audiovisual and computer equipment.

Questions or problems relating to the submission of proposals may be directed to rector@gaudeamus.ru and/or jane.roberts@sas.ac.uk.

Abstracts, whether for Plenary Sessions or for Working Groups, should be no more than 500 words in length. To submit a proposal, please let us have a copy of your abstract by e-mail attachment not later than the 15 January 2012.
