'Irishness Abroad'

In June 2005 the British Association for Irish Studies will host a
conference, in association with the Institute of English Studies,
which will reflect on the nature and implications of the Irish
diaspora. |
Speakers will include:
Nicholas Grene (TCD),
Mairtin Mac an
Ghaill (University of Newcastle),
Marie-Louise Coolahan (NUI Galway)
and
Shaun Richards (Staffordshire University).
Speakers and delegates
will consider strategies through which versions of Irishness have
been articulated in public and private spaces; issues of visibility
and invisibility, identity, community and fragmentation as well as
issues relating to the commodification and representation of Ireland
abroad.
