The Institute of English Studies is delighted to announce that Professor Brian Vickers will be giving a John Coffin Memorial Lecture "Shakespeare's Teachers" on Thursday 29th April at 6.00pm in the Beveridge Hall.
Professor Brian Vickers is a Distinguished Senior
Fellow of the School of Advanced Study, and a Fellow of the British Academy. He
was for many years Professor of English Literature, and Director, Centre for
Renaissance Studies in Zurich. A former Visiting Fellow of All Souls, he is
widely known for his work on Henry Mackenzie, Swift, Hooker, Bacon, and
Shakespeare. His recent books include Counterfeiting Shakespeare: evidence,
authorship and John Ford's Funerall Elegye, 2002; Shakespeare, Co-Author
a historical study of five collaborative plays, 2002.
The Lecture is free and open to the public. There is no-pregistration or reservation, the lecture will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
