In late January 2023 we will be travelling (virtually) to Charleston, South Carolina to see some of the rare books and special collections of The Charleston Library Society. Founded in 1748, the Charleston Library Society is home to a collection of books, manuscripts, and heritage items ranging in date from the 15th century to the present day. Following a brief history of the Society, specialist staff will highlight some of the most significant items in their collections as well as discussing collection care as the visit moves on to the bindery and conservation studio.
Following the tour there will be an opportunity for questions and informal discussion with our hosts.
