What Does It Mean To Have A Diverse Curriculum 2: Schools and Higher Education in Collaboration in English Studies and Modern Foreign Languages

In April 2024, the Decolonising the Discipline network brought together educators from secondary and higher education to explore what it really means to have a diverse curriculum and what we might mean by decolonisation in that context.
The second part of What Does It Mean To Have A Diverse Curriculum brings together two decolonising initiatives led by practitioners in English Studies and Modern Foreign Languages to explore how schools and universities collaborate on decolonising initiatives.

Erin is a Subject Standards Leader in English for Inspiration Trust. Erin has been teaching English since 2011 in secondary schools across East Anglia. Erin is also involved in the East Anglian NIoT Inspiration teacher training programme, delivering curriculum and pedagogy sessions to the next generation of English teachers. Erin led the trust's 'Decolonisation in English' resource development group in 2023 - 2024. She will be presenting on the trust's decolonisation sessions and the resources produced.
Decolonising the Discipline is a collaborative initiative undertaken jointly by colleagues at the English Association, the Institute of English Studies, the University of East Anglia, the Postcolonial Studies Association and University English. We invite academics from across English Studies in the UK to join us in building a network of decolonising practitioners through which we can gather and share experiences and ideas to effect practical change.
