Antiquarian Booksellers' Association

Founded in 1906 and the oldest organisation of its kind in the world,

the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association is the senior trade body for dealers in antiquarian and rare books, manuscripts and allied materials in the British Isles. Its membership also extends to many of the leading booksellers overseas. Members are elected solely on the basis of proven experience, expertise and integrity. They are expected to observe the highest professional and ethical standards and to foster the mutual trust and respect that exists between the trade and the public.

Bibliographical Society

The Bibliographical Society was founded in 1892 to promote and

encourage study and research in historical, analytical, descriptive and textual bibliography.  Since then its scope has widened to include the making and use of manuscripts, the history of printing, publishing and illustration, the study of bookbinding, and the history of the book, as well as the history of libraries and the study of provenance, readership, and book collecting.

Maggs Bros.

Established in 1853, Maggs Bros. Ltd. is one of the world’s largest and oldest antiquarian booksellers. Serious about books without being stuffy, we are proud of our traditions and history but are continually looking to the future. We embrace the new age of information technology, and combine with it a continuity which has seen us deal with successive generations of collectors and with libraries over many decades.

Dr Williams's Library

The Library was established by the will of Dr Daniel Williams, the leading London nonconformist minister of his day, who died in January 1716. The collections were greatly enlarged over the years with many important gifts of books, manuscripts and portraits, so that Williams’s original benefaction of about 7600 books forms only a small part of the modern library which extends far beyond puritanism to cover Biblical subjects, church history, Byzantium and much more.
