The Institute of English Studies is delighted to announce the launch of the Daniel Albright Scholarship, which is intended to support one postgraduate Masters student in the 2021-22 academic year with full tuition fees at the UK rate, as well as providing additional funding to cover research-related costs.
The Daniel Albright scholarship was generously donated by Dr Marta Rivera Monclova in memory of her late partner Professor Daniel Albright. Author and scholar Professor Albright was the Ernest Bernbaum Professor of Literature at Harvard University and the author of many books, including Panaesthetics: On the Unity and Diversity of the Arts.
An alumna of the T.S. Eliot International Summer School, which is hosted by the IES, Dr Rivera Monclova was contacted as part of a recent telephone fundraising campaign to alumni and friends. During the call, she shared her story of travelling to London with her partner Professor Albright, who was teaching at the Summer School.
This generous gift will realise Dr Rivera Monclova’s wishes to both support a deserving student in their pursuit of education and to remember the life and work of Professor Albright. On behalf of the IES and the University of London, we extend our sincere thanks to Dr Rivera Monclova for her support.
