How did Milton read Homer?

Tomos Evans

Tom will discuss work-in-progress from a chapter of his thesis, Milton’s Hellenism, and an article that will be published in the edited volume Reading, Writing, and Translating Greek in Early Modern Schools, Universities, and Beyond (expected Autumn 2022) about Homeric study in Cambridge in the 1620’s and 1630’s to consider how Milton might have read and been taught the Homeric poems in his youth at St Paul’s School and at Cambridge.
