Dr Devika Mehra
IES Early Career Research Fellow

Dr Devika Mehra is the 2024 early career fellow at the Institute of English Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. She is the 2022 Inclusion, Participation, and Engagement Fellow (School of Advanced Study, University of London) for a research project investigating the role of children's literature archives, museums and libraries in promoting diversity. She has worked as a postdoctoral research associate on the British Academy-funded project team at Newcastle University investigating Black British children's literature archives and the role of young people's voices in increasing representation in children's prize culture. Her areas of interest include twentieth-century and contemporary children's literature and film in global contexts, critical archival studies and digital humanities, book history and children’s publishing, and participatory research methods. She has presented internationally and published in these areas. Her current interdisciplinary project explores the history and evolution of children’s print cultures and publishing in India.
