James Freeman
I have been the Medieval Manuscripts Specialist at Cambridge University Library since May 2016, having worked previously in various capacities in the Manuscripts and Rare Books departments at the British Library.
In addition to my curatorial responsibilities, I am Principal Investigator for Curious Cures in Cambridge Libraries: a two-year, Wellcome-funded digitisation, cataloguing and transcription project.
I have taught an introductory course on codicology at the London Palaeography School since 2014, and another on the cataloguing of medieval manuscripts since 2018, and regularly teach the principles of book production and description to undergraduate and postgraduate students at Cambridge.
I also serve as Chair for the Association of Manuscripts and Archives in Research Collections (AMARC) and as Co-Editor for the Transactions of the Cambridge Bibliographical Society.
