Vanessa Lim is a literary and intellectual historian of early modern England, with a special interest in the reception and use of classical rhetoric in the Renaissance.

Research
She holds a doctorate in History and English from Queen Mary University of London, an MA in Intellectual History, and a BSc in Politics and Philosophy. At the Institute of English Studies, Vanessa will complete work on her first monograph, Deliberative Shakespeare, and pursue interrelated research on the motif of self-speech in late Elizabethan prose fiction. Her research has been published in the Review of English Studies and Notes & Queries.
